Cook Off Information

PHYLLO DOUGH CHALLENGE -- Athens Food, Inc., whose headquarters is located in the Cleveland OH area, has generously offered to sponsor and judge this cook-off.  Each entrant will receive a package of Phyllo dough for this cook-off, at which you will need to pick up at the Registration Table.  The sky's the limit with your use of the Phyllo dough!  The only rule is that it is to be cooked in a Dutch oven.  To be assured that we have enough Phyllo dough for each entrant, please email Fran that you are interested in the Phyllo Dough challenge.  Even if you decide not to compete but you still want to try the Phyllo at the National DOG, drop me an email.   So start researching those recipes now!  Check out http://www.athensfoods.com for a head start!

THREE-POT COOK-OFF -- This is an IDOS-sanctioned cook-off, and the winner can become eligible for participation in the annual IDOS World Championship Cook-Off.  You do not have to be an IDOS member to enter this cook-off.  The 3-pot cook-off will be held on Friday.  Contact Matt if you are interested.  Rules for the cook-off are here.

DESSERT COOK-OFF -- Bring on your best!  This cook-off will be held on Saturday afternoon.  Prizes are donated by Kitchen Collection.  Rules for the Dessert Cook-off are here.

CHICKEN COOK-OFF -- The Chicken Cook-off will be held on Saturday afternoon.  It's sponsored by Gerber Poultry, who will be providing Gerber's Amish Farm Chicken, known for high quality meat.  Contact Matt if you are interested.  Rules for the cook-off are here.  There is a limited amount of chicken, so register (contact Matt) as soon as possible.

YOUTH COOK-OFF -- The Youth Cook-off will be held on Saturday morning.  This cook-off is open to young'uns under the age of 18, and you can cook in teams of no more than 3 people.   You can enter the cook-off by yourself if you wish.  Prizes will be awarded to top dishes for a Main Dish as well as a Dessert.  Contact Matt if you are interested.  Rules for the Youth Cook-off are here

Gift Basket Exchange

State Gift Baskets have become a popular tradition of the National DOG since 2007.  If you wish to participate, bring a basket with items that represent your state or local area.   You may also include items in your basket that are applicable to Dutch oven cooking.  Click here to see the basic guidelines on the basket exchange.

This basket exchange is optional, but it is sure fun to go home with one!
